The animals in South Luangwa are at their most active, meaning it’s a fantastic time for wildlife sightings. Birding is best just after dawn as the birdsong carries beautifully in the still, early morning air. And of course, the soft morning light is a delight for everyone, especially photographers. 

Our morning game drives are from 06h-10h. Seeing the park in all its dewy, dawn glory more than makes up for the early start. The tea stop for a morning cuppa and freshly-baked biscuits mid-way through the morning drive also helps! 

If you're in the mood for a later start, then the afternoon game drive might be perfect choice for you. Afternoon game drives give the opportunity to see animals avoiding the heat of late-day, meaning it is possible to see lots of animals resting in the shade, or napping in a comfortable spot.  

Our afternoon game drives are from 14h-18h. After we are done, let us treat you to some drinks and snacks in the middle of the national park, or by the river. It will be an experience never-to-forget!

Our all-day expeditions are from 6h-20h00, really maximising your time out in the park. We head up to the northern reaches of the park in search of some of the more unusual wildlife of the South Luangwa, following them into the most remote areas. It’s a long but incredibly rewarding day and most people say an all-day drive is one of the best parts of their trip. 

There’s tea, coffee and home-baked goodies to see you through the morning and around lunch, your guide will stop in a pretty spot for a picnic. If you fancy, unpack a chair and relax for a couple of hours. In the evening, we’ll make sure there are plenty of cold drinks to go around and once you get back to camp, dinner will be waiting for you!
